September 2026

As we return to our regularly scheduled union meetings following the summer months, UAW Local 602 has much to reflect on and much to look forward to.

Over the past several months, we have welcomed new brothers and sisters into our labor family. To each of our new members, welcome to Local 602. Our hope is that you find more than just union representation here—you find a union home built upon solidarity, respect, and the understanding that we are stronger when we stand together.

While our union continues to grow, we must also remember those we have lost. Among them is our sister Marilyn Coulter, who helped lead, shape, and strengthen Local 602. Our local exists today because generations of members were willing to contribute their time, energy, and sacrifice to build something better for those who followed.

Every contribution matters. The best way we can honor those who have paved the way is to continue building upon the foundation they left behind.

That responsibility includes participating in our union’s democratic process. Members who have not yet voted in the UAW International Executive Board election are encouraged to return their ballots. The final date to request a replacement ballot is September 23, 2026, and ballots must be postmarked by October 5, 2026, to be counted.

Elections may bring different candidates, opinions, and ideas, but when the votes are counted, we remain UAW brothers and sisters. Our strength has always come from our ability to unite around the common interests of working people.

September also gives us an opportunity to recognize National Hispanic Heritage Month and celebrate the Hispanic brothers and sisters of Local 602 and throughout the labor movement. Our union family represents many cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. Those differences do not weaken our solidarity, they strengthen it.

Labor leader César Chávez reminded workers of the power found in unity and in our numbers. That message remains relevant today. When working people allow themselves to be divided, our collective voice becomes weaker. When we stand together, we become a powerful force for change.

As we move forward, let us remember those who came before us, welcome those joining us today, celebrate the diversity within our ranks, and continue building a stronger Local 602 for the generations that will follow.

In Solidarity,

Isaiah
