April 2026

Greetings and happy Spring!

Our Retiree’s held their Easter luncheon on the March 18th and it was a packed house! Thank you to Marta Bobillo for putting together a great holiday like she always does. Marta has been the backbone of UAW local 602 for decades and she always takes great care of our Retirees! UAW Regional Director Steve Dawes helped serve our retirees lunch. He told me he had a great time spending the afternoon with them and thanked us for the invite.

Now for the upcoming elections -

Later this year the UAW International will hold elections for all of the International Executive Board positions. If you have moved, please remember to update your address with the International so that you can receive a ballot in the mail for these upcoming elections. To update your address you can contact myinfo.uaw.org

In this issue, you will find the UAW local 602 election notice. Please look it over and I urge you all to participate if you are able.

For both our local elections in May and our International elections later this year I would encourage you to vote based on Integrity, Performance, Accountability and Character. In all elections, including Federal and State government elections, we see candidates that will promise the moon and once elected only serve themselves. We need to ask the questions; does this person present only things they consider problems without providing a solution? Has this person performed their current position with integrity? Has this person taken advantage of their position for personal gain? When asked about mistakes or wrongdoing have they taken responsibility or tried to make excuses or deflect blame? We cannot allow candidates that lack integrity or character harm our union again. We cannot forget that our union was tarnished not that long ago with corruption. We need to remember how we felt when our trust was betrayed. I urge you to vote remembering our past with an eye on our future.

I would like to close with thanking the membership for electing me to represent them for the last 16 years. It has been an amazing honor that I do not take for granted. You have blessed me with your support over the years and given me the ability to stand up for working families in the halls of power at LDT, the Lansing Capitol and in Washington D.C., thank you from the bottom of my heart.

In Solidarity,

Mike
