GM returns to work
Posted On: May 11, 2020

GM Manufacturing ‘Return to Work’ Fact Sheet

Based on conversations and collaboration with unions and government officials, GM is planning a gradual restart of the majority of its manufacturing operations on May 18 in the U.S. and Canada under extensive safety measures. These global, standardized measures were informed by learnings from GM facilities in China; Korea; Kokomo, Indiana; Arlington, Texas; Warren, Michigan; Customer Care and Aftersales operations, as well as collaboration with union leadership and supplier partners.

These safety procedures – which include screening, cleaning and physical distancing strategies designed using the best medical and scientific data available -- meet or exceed CDC and WHO guidelines, and are designed to keep people safe when they arrive, while they work and as they leave the facility.

The following planned restart dates have been communicated with employees. Importantly, before anyone starts work at a plant, we will conduct detailed safety orientation sessions to ensure everyone understands GM’s safety system and can ask questions. Only after those orientation sessions are completed will production resume.
